Brittany is a licensed physical therapist.  She received her Bachelor of Arts in Exercise and Sports Science from The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 2010.  She later attended Western Carolina University where she graduated in the inaugural class of the Doctor of Physical Therapy program.  Brittany has been practicing physical therapy in the area since this time, with experience in the acute, inpatient, outpatient, skilled nursing, and assisted living settings.  She has also served as a clinical instructor and mentor for several graduate level physical therapy students.

A major area of interest for Brittany is orthopedics as she has primarily treated patients with these conditions, both post-surgical and nonsurgical.  She utilizes a holistic approach to patient care providing a comprehensive evaluation, followed by a tailored treatment program to meet each patients' needs.

In 2017, Brittany became a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT) after receiving her course training through the Academy of Lymphatic Studies.  She has specialized in treating patients with edema-related impairments including those with lymphedema, venous insufficiency, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, and many more.  She is able to provide a full decongestive therapy program including compression bandaging, manual lymphatic drainage, decongestive exercise, and skin care education.

Upon joining the SMSMPT family in January 2020, Brittany became involved in treating patients suffering from vestibular conditions with professional guidance from Robyn Duncan, PT, DPT, CEEFAA. She chose to pursue additional continuing education courses to hone her skills in vestibular rehabilitation therapy (VRT). Brittany now regularly assists individuals suffering from vertigo, dizziness, visual disturbance, recurrent falls, and/or imbalance disorders. She is able to perform a thorough evaluation using video-goggle testing followed by treatment including positional maneuvers, gaze stabilization drills, habituation training, and additional exercise-based therapy.

Brittany is passionate about health and wellness which makes it easy to enjoy her job.  She finds satisfaction in helping others return to their prior functional level and reach goals that she and the patient set together.  She is excited to get to know the people of her community better as a staff member of SMSMPT!

Brittany resides in Sylva, NC with her husband Ben, and their children Ella and Crew.  Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, exercising, reading, cooking, and attending/watching sporting events.  She is an avid Tarheels fan and tries not to miss a game- Go Heels!
