Blake Queen

Physical Therapist


Blake Queen, PT, DPT, MSc, OCS is a Jackson County native committed to serving the people of our community and has been practicing physical therapy locally since 2014. As an inaugural graduate of Western Carolina University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program, he received additional training in pharmacology, imaging, and evidence-based treatment protocols as they relate to the profession.   During his studies, Blake was peer-selected to be president of his graduating class and to also receive the leadership award.  The concentration of his doctoral project, overseen by Dave Hudson, PT,PhD, was the relationship between knee pathomechanics and stepdown gait analysis.  


Blake earned his orthopedic certification through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. An orthopedic specialist is recognized as having advanced knowledge and skills in treating musculoskeletal conditions.


In addition to his educational pursuits in physical therapy, Blake also received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Master of Science in Applied Mathematics from Western Carolina University. His Master’s project, overseen by Jeff Lawson, PhD, focused on the mathematics of human movement.  Following his studies, he spent six years teaching university-level mathematics courses at both Western Carolina University and Warren Wilson College.


Outside of Physical Therapy, Blake has been active in martial arts and combat sports since 2002.  Since 2014, he has used this experience to coach a small group of individuals with Parkinson’s. Research has demonstrated the positive effects of boxing training on movement-related quality of life in those living with Parkinson’s Disease.


Blake lives in Cullowhee with his wife, Rebecca, and their four-legged children, Wheezer and Pepper. In his spare time, he enjoys reliving his childhood through collecting and reading comics.
