FEBRUARY 2023

The second edition of our quarterly newsletter, highlighting various news, staff additions, and other notable events of the previous 3 months.

Our team at Smoky Mountain Sports Medicine continues to grow, and we are happy to announce some new additions to our staff! Thank you for your continued support that allows us to grow our team, to better serve you and our communities.

Joining our front office team in Sylva is Emily Rose Cronin!

Emily Rose is our Front Office Specialist at our Sylva location. She grew up in a small beach town located in Cape Cod, MA. Her love for the mountains brought her to Knoxville, TN., and then recently to Bryson City, NC.

She has a passion for helping others and strives to deliver the best customer care possible to our patients. Her clerical work experience and her previous position as a patient care coordinator have proven to be helpful in this role.

In her spare time, Emily enjoys cooking Italian food, spending time with her family, and going on hikes with her dogs Willow and Roscoe. She is looking forward to seeing what the beautiful state of NC has to offer her.

Joining our Hand Therapy team in Cullowhee is Kelsea Sonnier!

Kelsea is a Board Certified Hand Therapist who received her Masters in Occupational Therapy from the University of St Augustine Florida, graduating with high honors and a scholastic achievement award in 2014. She received undergraduate degrees in biochemistry, molecular biology, and chemistry with a minor in biology in 2012.

Kelsea has been working with clients of all ages having hand and upper extremity diagnoses since 2014. She has primarily been in the outpatient setting but she has had experience in hospital inpatient, skilled nursing, and assisted living facilities as well. Kelsea believes in understanding what matters most to each client, education and communication, and utilization of anatomy, biomechanics, and manual techniques are key in a successful recovery and therapy experience.

Kelsea has lived and worked in the Waynesville, NC area since 2015 and can’t imagine any other place to raise her family. Outside of work, Kelsea enjoys being outdoors with her husband and 3 girls, kayaking, hiking, church, health and wellness with experience/training in Crossfit, reading, puzzles, and enjoying life.

Kelsea performs hand therapy at our Cullowhee location.

In other news, our Hand Therapy providers have permanently moved as of December 2022. They are now located in our Cullowhee location, located on the campus of Western Carolina University.

Another exciting announcement to make! Anna Beth Ball of our Bryson City office gave birth to a baby boy this past month! We are thrilled to welcome Ross Ball to the Smoky Mountain family! Congratulations to Anna Beth and her family!
