Megan J. Russell is an Occupational Therapist and Board Certified Hand Therapist. She received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Carthage College (Kenosha, WI) and her Master's in Occupational Therapy from Washington University (St. Louis, MO). Since she started practicing in 2004, she has worked in a variety of settings, including occupational medicine where obtained 8 years of experience working with clients injured in the work setting.
As an occupational hand therapist, she is passionate about treating the entire upper extremity (shoulder to hand) and helping client's heal from a variety of injuries. She has experience treating repetitive injuries, clients recovering from strokes, fractures, and traumatic injuries such as tendon repairs. Hand therapists use orthotic splints to help clients heal and recover, as well as manual therapy techniques and individualized exercise programs. She has worked with clients of all ages.
Megan moved with her family from the Chicago area to Western North Carolina in 2016. She's been enjoying the warm weather, hiking, tubing, sporting events and plays at WCU, and exploring the area with her husband and two children. She is excited to be a part of the Jackson County community, and has decided she does not miss cold, long, blistery midwest winters and is adding new words to her vocabulary, like y-uns.
Megan performs Hand Therapy at our location in Jackson Medical Associates.
