Smoky Mountain Sports Medicine Physical Therapy is an employee-owned private practice
serving Western North Carolina with outpatient locations in Sylva, Cullowhee, Bryson City and
Waynesville. SMSMPT also has a presence at Jackson Medical Associates in Sylva, and provides
coverage at two Assisted Living Facilities in Waynesville, Haywood Lodge and Spicewood
Cottages.
 

Here at SMSMPT, our patients take priority. The clinicians and staff strive to provide quality, one-on-one care to each individual, from scheduling the first appointment to discharge. One of the goals of
SMSMPT is to form quality relationships with their patients, allowing a more individualized
approach, within an attentive and compassionate environment. The majority of the providers
are local, either born and raised in WNC, or have been living in the area for several years.

Here at SMSMPT we see a variety of conditions from low back pain to post-surgical total knee
replacements. Lymphedema, vestibular syndrome, orthopedic injuries, pelvic dysfunction and
neurological problems are also areas of specialty for some of the clinicians. Other services
provided by SMSMPT are dry needling, running evaluations, throwing assessments, custom
orthotic fabrication, and hand therapy. The therapists at SMSMPT are experienced,
knowledgeable, and strive to provide evidence-based treatment.
 

SMSMPT is contracted with all major insurances and is direct-access, meaning a prospective
patient can call the clinic directly to make an appointment. Those covered by Medicare will
need a referral from a physician. The front office staff is well-educated about insurance
coverage and can assist in giving information regarding a specific plan.
